Yes! You will need the free TuneIn Radio app. Just search “WXCU” inside the app to listen. Then save us to your favorites for easier access! We also have a mobilized website, so you can easily access this page from your smartphone.

 Staff

Who can be a DJ?

Any student who is enrolled in Capital University.

How can I be a DJ?

By signing up for WXCU when you sign up for classes. More information is available here.

How many students are involved with WXCU?

In Spring 2014 we had more than 20 on-air DJs, in addition to our small but dedicated Management Team.

Are your DJs paid?

No. But our DJs can earn credit toward graduation.

When are DJs in the studio?

DJs are in the studio every day from 9 a.m. to midnight Eastern Time with the exception of breaks and finals or when the university is closed (due to inclement weather or otherwise). Though you might be able to hear some truly dedicated DJs still on the air.

How can I earn credit?

Send an email to our faculty advisor Betsy Pike with your questions.

How can I schedule/reschedule a shift?

Send an email to our advisor Patrick Locy with your requested times.

 Music

What kind of music does WXCU play?

Our format is predominantly made up of alternative, rock, and local music. We also have great talk shows! Check out our latest and top songs.

Who picks the music I hear on WXCU?

Our DJs have the freedom to choose what music they play on-air. We have a large, frequently updated database of songs they can pick from, compiled by our music director and staff. DJs are allowed to bring in some of their own music as well.

How can I get my band played on WXCU?

We have a page dedicated to submitting your music here.

Do you take requests?

Yes, as long as there is a DJ in the studio. You can make requests by calling the request line at (614) 236-6336. As long as the song fits the show format and is in our library, we can play it for you.

I heard a song I really liked, can I find out what it is?

If you’re quick about it, you can ask the DJ in the studio what it was by calling the request line at (614) 236-6336. You could always try typing some lyrics you remember into Google. Or there is the black magic that is Soundhound / Shazam.

Can my band play live or get an interview on air?

Yes! We love this kind of content. Contact our program director to find out more information.
